My name is Reina Elizondo I'm studying at SCAD to be a matte painter.
I now have a new website: www.reinaelizondo.com
At first I was just posting my paintings of various mediums. Now I'm still posting paintings, but they tend to be more often digital.
Thanks for taking a look.

But a Breath
Acrylic
This started as a study of the back. I've redone it at least four times but I'd still like it to be better. I wish I'd started with one whole reference. Because I used many different references (including losing my original references and finding new ones half way through) for both the head and the back, I believe those are a bit disconnected. I plan to do another from one single reference.

Acrylic
This is from an old photo of my father. I like to paint with exaggerated and/or unlikely skin colors. There are a few spots that gained some digital artifact and pixelation from the camera or the color correcting I did in Photoshop. This is still a WIP.

Another White on Black Still Life
White conte crayon on black poster paper
This still life was done in class. I loved how that kettle reflected the light.
White on Black
White conte crayon on black poster paper
This still life is of a few items that I've always loved the shape or look of. The sculpture belongs to my mother and I wish I knew who the artist was. I believe the harmonica was my great grandfather's.
Again I'm limited by my skill (or lack of skill) with a digital camera. Someday I will find out where the school keeps it's large scanners.
Charcoal and white conte crayon on acrylic painted watercolor paper
I have a few drawings I like from my last drawing class that I'll start posting. At least until I have more digital stuff.
This is a self portrait. No, I wasn't pouting, my neck was just hurting from the angle I had to hold my head for this nice 3/4 view. Great to know what you look like when you're concentrating, right?

Another Still Life
Acrylic
I may have warped this with the angle I took the picture, but I tried to fix it in Photoshop. Anyone who wants to advise me on better methods of imaging my paintings that don't involve expensive print shop visits or buying a huge scanner, please advise me. ;)

Old WIP
Acrylic
A still life of an apple and an onion. I had a habit of being stingy with my paint. In fact I still have to remind myself to use more than my first instinct tells me to.
